Isoniazid preventive treatment is one of the cornerstones of TB prevention, especially in settings with a high burden of HIV and endemic TB.  Recent studies have raised questions about the durability of protection, the optimal length of isoniazid treatment, and the benefit of other regimens to treat latent TB infection.  We will review original research findings addressing long term effectiveness of IPT in  Namibia and some other studies in similar health care settings which have  high rates of TB/HIV co-infection.   We will also discuss secondary isoniazid prophylaxis for prevention of TB recurrence in people living with HIV.
